Botulinum Toxin

Injections with botulinum toxin are one of the most effective wrinkle treatment methods. During the last decade, this treatment increased in popularity, especially because it shows excellent results.

The results are of course influenced by the quality of the product used, this is why Elos specialists use only products renowned for their quality, with proven effectiveness.

This product contains purified A-type botulinum toxin and is excellent for treating wrinkles on the upper part of the face (forehead, glabella and wrinkles around the eye). The results last for up to 6 months, and clinical studies show it does not have side effects and is very well tolerated by the body.

What is botulinum toxin?

Botulinum toxin is an organic neuromodulator that blocks the crossing of the nerve impulse to the corresponding muscle. Simply put, botulin toxin is a substance that contributes to muscle relaxation and therefore to the disappearance or significant mitigation of the wrinkles.

Injections with botulinum toxin are mainly indicated for the upper third of the face: wrinkles between the eyebrows (glabella), brow furrows, wrinkles around the eye (crow’s feet) or nose wrinkles.

Due to the lack of contraction and relaxation of the anatomic area, the expression wrinkle disappears and the existing wrinkles soften or disappear almost entirely.

Preparation for intervention

At least one week before the intervention, the patient should not undergo treatments with anticoagulants, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medicines or diets with E-vitamin supplements that increase the risk of bleeding and hematoma.

The botox injection session

Before injecting botulinum toxin, the dermatologist establishes the injection point and the proper botox doses, then cleans and disinfects the skin.

For sensitive people, a contact anaesthesia version can be used. Before and after injection apply ice, which will reduce the risk of contusions (bruises). The injection is a procedure that lasts only several minutes, but the visible effect will be noticed only after a couple of days, progressing and becoming fully visible 14 days after the intervention.

What happens after the procedure

The patients can go back to their normal routine immediately after the injection or after 2-3 hours of rest with ice applied locally, but they are advised to avoid local massage, sun exposure, sauna and physical effort for the next days.

Slight signs of inflammation (redness, oedema, pain) can occur at the injection site, but they are temporary. A small haematoma can occur occasionally because of the lesion of a vessel when the needle penetrates the skin. If its appearance could not be avoided by applying pressure and ice locally, it will be reabsorbed within 6-8 days.

The injection with toxin botulin is a safe and effective way of fighting against the first signs of ageing.
